Chicken donuts

Chicken donuts are a unique and savory twist on traditional donuts, incorporating chicken as a filling or topping. Here's a recipe for chicken-filled donuts:

Ingredients:

For the dough:

- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

- ½ teaspoon salt

- ¾ cup warm milk

- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

- 2 large eggs

For the chicken filling:

- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded or finely chopped

- ¼ cup mayonnaise

- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

- 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery

- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or dill)

- Salt and pepper to taste

For frying:

- Vegetable oil (enough for frying)

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.

3. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more flour.

5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

6. While the dough is rising, prepare the chicken filling. In a bowl, combine the cooked chicken, mayonnaise, chopped onion, chopped celery, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.

7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about ½ inch.

8. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out donut shapes. You can make them smaller or larger, depending on your preference.

9. Place a small spoonful of the chicken filling onto the center of one donut shape. Top it with another donut shape and press the edges together to seal. Repeat this process with the remaining dough and filling.

10. Place the filled donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

11. While the donuts are rising, heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to around 350°F (175°C).

12. Carefully place a few donuts at a time into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to flip the donuts.

13. Once fried, transfer the donuts to a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

14. Serve the chicken-filled donuts warm and enjoy!

These chicken-filled donuts offer a unique combination of savory and sweet flavors. You can also experiment with different seasonings or add a dipping sauce of your choice to enhance the taste.
