Chicken Grill Puff
chicken grill puffs:
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme, oregano, or basil)
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
- Flour, for dusting
- Optional: beaten egg for egg wash (to brush on the pastry)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
2. Season the chicken breasts or thighs with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried herbs. Ensure that both sides of the chicken are evenly coated with the seasoning.
3. Place the seasoned chicken on the preheated grill and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken. Ensure that the chicken is cooked through but not overcooked.
4. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the grill and let it cool slightly. Dice or shred the chicken into small pieces and set aside.
5. Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry package instructions.
6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangular shape. If necessary, use a rolling pin to make the sheet slightly thinner.
7. Cut the puff pastry into squares or rectangles of your desired size, depending on how big you want your grill puffs to be.
8. Place a spoonful of the diced or shredded grilled chicken in the center of each puff pastry square.
9. Fold one corner of the puff pastry over the chicken filling to form a triangle shape. Press the edges together firmly to seal the filling inside. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative effect.
10. Repeat this process for the remaining puff pastry squares and chicken filling.
11. Place the filled puff pastry triangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
12. Optional: If you prefer a golden and shiny finish, you can brush the tops of the puff pastry with beaten egg, which acts as an egg wash.
13. Bake the chicken grill puffs in the preheated oven according to the puff pastry package instructions, usually around 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
14. Once baked, remove the chicken grill puffs from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. They can be served warm or at room temperature.
You can enjoy these delicious chicken grill puffs as they are or pair them with your favorite dipping sauce. They make a great snack or appetizer for gatherings or a tasty meal when served with a side salad or vegetables. Enjoy your homemade chicken grill puffs!
