chocolate ice cream using Hershey chocolate
chocolate ice cream using Hershey chocolate:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder ( Hershey)
- 4 ounces Hershey chocolate, chopped
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and cocoa powder. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to steam. Do not let it boil.
2. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chopped Hershey chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they become slightly thickened. Slowly pour about 1/2 cup of the warm chocolate mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to temper the yolks.
4. Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining chocolate mixture, whisking constantly.
5. Return the saucepan to medium heat and cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
6. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
7. Once chilled, pour the chocolate mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
8. Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for a few hours or until firm.
9. Serve the delicious homemade Hershey chocolate ice cream in bowls or cones, and enjoy!
Note: You can customize this recipe by adding mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or caramel swirls during the last few minutes of churning.
